The Festival, now in its fifth year, will take place 24th – 30th October 2011, and is dedicated to raising the profile and awareness of the great work done in our communities throughout all art forms.
The festival will provide audiences the opportunity to watch and enjoy some of the work completed by our guests throughout out the year.
Celebrities participating in this year’s festival include actors: Rudolph Walker, Wil Johnson, singers: Julie Dexter, Noel McKoy, Shola Ama and actress: Angela Wynter.
The highlight of the event this year will be The Music Video & Screen Awards (MVSAs) hosted by Jimmy Akingbola and Jacqui Joseph. On Saturday 29th October 2011 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) this star studded Semi Formal dinner and dance event is set to be the best ever.
With the Official Press Nomination announcements taking place at an evening cocktail party on Friday 7th October 2011 at the luxurious Malmaison Hotel.
Award categories for this years, ceremony include:
- Best Actor & Best Actress
- Best TV presenter
- Best Drama with a Black Cast or lead
- Best TV/ Live Comedian
- Best UK Video Music
- Best Black Theatre Production
- Best UK Film & Best International Film
Nominees include: Idris Elba, Angela Griffin, Feema Agyeman, Naomi Harris, Clive Myrie and John Boyega.
